House-museum Abargues

A perfect sample of what 18th and 19th century stately homes looked like

This is an 18th-19th century stately home full of anecdotes and stories that take visitors over 100 years back in history to discover the way of life of Benissa’s upper class. Its main gate features a carved stone replica of the family heraldry featuring two sandals, a piece of typical footwear to which the family owed its name.

The inside of the house is a faithful representation of the noble households of the time, with its large living spaces, grand staircases, private dining rooms, the old kitchens, stables and many agricultural storehouses, the family’s private chapel and the servants’ quarters and bedrooms.
