Dedicated to Saint James
Take the road from Benissa towards La Fustera (beaches) until you reach a crossing with a sign pointing to Benimarco on the left. You will reach a small square with a central cross and a hermitage roughly 1 km away from the crossing.
This hermitage was erected in 1884 on the border with the municipal district of Teulada, and it therefore belongs to both municipalities. To its left and separate from it is the former school. This hill boasts impressive views of the coast, which can be reached descending through the Montemar residential area. This is a densely populated area due to the large number of chalets that have been built over the years.
Its festivities are held late in July and are shared with Teulada. They feature a number of events, such as the “entrà de la Murta”, the planting of the pine, the firing of firecrackers of all sizes, the masses, samplings of typical fare and popular meals, cock races, greasy pole, parades and vaquillas.
