4. SHALL WE SNACK ON THE MONA? traditional games

One of the FAMILY TRADITIONS in the region is to prepare your cabasset (basket) with the typical Easter snack, which includes the traditional Mona de Pascua (available at local bakeries) and cured meats, such as the llonganissa de Pascua (long sausage) that can be purchased at Benissa's butcher shops. Subsequently, this snack is enjoyed in the company of family and friends outdoors on Easter Sunday. Here are some picnic areas located in green areas throughout the area.

The MONA DE PASCUA is made of "panou" and a hard-boiled egg in the middle. If made at home, it is common for children to paint the eggs in colors. A tradition associated with this delicacy, when eating the Mona, is to remove the egg and address the nearest companion to recite:

"Ací em pica" (pointing a shoulder with the egg),

"ací em cou" (pointing to the other shoulder),

"ací em menge la mona" (pointing to the mouth with the egg)

"i ací et trenque l’ou" (breaking the hard-boiled egg on the companion's forehead).
