Plans to do with children over Holy Week

It is March, you have children and you still don´t have plans for this Holy Week? Well, here we suggest a plan for you:

Visit Benissa at Easter

In Benissa we have a varied program that combines our classic Easter traditions with music concerts, which is known as “Viu la pasqua” (“Experience Easter”).

Sensory visit to the historic centre of Benissa

Family plans include the sensory visit to the historic centre of Benissa, where you can create your own mona de pascua (sweet that is typical of Holy Week that is eaten on Easter Day) and discover the medieval historic centre.

Micro-concerts

Alongside this, you can enjoy two of the micro-concerts in outstanding spaces in the area. The first is being held in the Chapel of the Abargues Foundation, a Convent of nuns and the second is at Casa Abargues, a stately home from the 18th century immersed in the heart of the historic centre of Benissa.

Pelota valenciana (Valencian Ball)

If the children don´t like music, we recommend attending the pelota valenciana match, organised over Easter at the trinquet in Benissa, a very fun way to discover first-hand this game that is so deeply rooted in the Community of Valencia.

Processions

Experience the essence of Holy Week in Benissa by enjoying the processions of Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, and the procession of the meeting. Discover a different way to get to know Benissa, exploring its streets and travelling into its past.

Gastronomy

One of the delicacies that we recommend trying are our typical cocas (flatbreads) with local sausage, anchovy or pisto, made from flour, yeast, water and oil, which you can find in the local bakeries.

Another of the top 10 in terms of the typical gastronomy of Holy Week are the Monas de Pascua (Easter Pastries).

Don´t forget to buy your mona to have as a snack on Easter Sunday!

What to do with children?

If you want to spend time with your children, we encourage you to go to the coast of Benissa (10 km from the town centre) and enjoy flying a kite, another Easter tradition you need to fulfil.

We recommend a very easy route for all the family: The Ecological Path of Benissa, a balcony overlooking the sea that is just 3km long.

Also, there are a series of Easter workshops available to you for the little ones, such as artistic sgraffito, the country festival and excursions.
